Do I absolutely need to use a web host to get a url which I then put into my apk to launch it
with Cloud Link the encryption is at the end and that doesn't work, right?
what is easiest to do, have already tested a number of providers

If you use XAMPP or any other localhosting you will need to configure your router to accept incoming requests and also leave your machine on 24/7 to ensure no down time. The only realistic way is to pay for web hosting or a cheap VPS.
